How to Identify a Chinese Vehicle Transmission Before Ordering

Use the nameplate, transmission code, OE/OEM reference and vehicle details together before requesting a gearbox quotation.

A B2B checklist for identifying a Chinese vehicle transmission by nameplate, transmission code, OE/OEM reference, VIN and vehicle details.

Start with the transmission nameplate

Send one clear photo showing the complete nameplate and another showing where it is mounted. The transmission code or supplier code is usually more useful than a general vehicle description.

Add the vehicle information

Include the vehicle brand, model, model year, engine or engine code, drive layout and VIN when available. A model name alone may cover more than one transmission version.

Use OE/OEM and old-unit photos as cross-checks

Add the OE/OEM reference plus clear photos of the old unit, casing, connectors and mounting points. Treat the model name as a search clue, not final fitment evidence.

Order boundary: Fitment, final quantity, price, freight, lead time and warranty terms are confirmed in writing before order.

Frequently asked questions

Can a VIN replace the transmission nameplate?

A VIN is useful, but a nameplate or old-unit photo may still be required when the vehicle record does not identify the exact transmission specification.

Is an OE/OEM number enough to order?

It is a strong reference when verified, but vehicle and photo evidence should still be checked when multiple variants or uncertain cross-references exist.
